Yas is twenty-two, Wood Rat and Capricorn by Chinese and Western zodiacs, respectively. She likes Gavin DeGraw, Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and (surprisingly) Panic! at the Disco, among others. Her blurb is a work in progress, just like her life.

010 Puppies! XD
There were eight of them to begin with, but they're just seven now. One puppy presumably got crushed to death by the mom a little over a week ago. @_@

So. Seven puppies, about to turn three weeks old on Thursday. I know this because they're scheduled for deworming that day.

You'd be this concerned over puppies too, if the mom gave birth on your bed.

Seriously. Our dog gave birth to the puppies on my bed. In hindsight, it was better that I woke up to her fighting with our other dog at sometime past two in the morning. At least I realized she was already giving birth, as a little black puppy crawled out from under a pillow. Think how it could've been if I woke up as usual, only to find half of my bed really wet with amniotic fluid and filled with squirming puppies I'd probably first mistake for wet rats. O_O

I'm taking better pictures of them when they're a little older. (For those wondering, they're 75% labrador retriever and 25% dachshund. DON'T TRY TO THINK ABOUT HOW IT HAPPENED TOO MUCH.)

I prepared for this week.

I went to see Avenue Q and Elliott Yamin last Saturday. No more excursions/gigs/fun events until Thursday evening at the earliest. I let my sisters take over the computer last weekend; the trade-off was I practically own it until Friday this week. I bought black fine-point pens to add to my stock, (re)collated all my index cards, and (re)borrowed several library books (damn the person who took out the book I really needed from the Educ lib).

Now, all I need to do is to actually finish writing the first chapter of my thesis.

Haha.

008 Not-so-random JD post

I'm trying out this new thing where I not complain about the inevitable. It's not helpful, but I'm thinking maybe I'll be less stressed. Haha.

Anyway, to share a really interesting article about a guy who probably would be inconsequential today if he hadn't died young: James Dean. The icon for angsty rebels may possibly become a god (and do read the article, it makes a really interesting argument). =P

Aside: back in grade school, my sister made me read the first in the series Teen Angels. The main plot doesn't matter to my discussion, just the side character JD. Supposedly he's the mentor of the main characters as they learn to be angels and thus earn passes into heaven. Anyway, one of the leads always had the nagging suspicion he was James Dean. By the end of the novel, he leaves them, saying something like he doesn't want to be late for his date with Natalie.

Of course nothing definite is said, but it's fun that it brings up the rumored relationship of James Dean and Natalie Wood during the shooting of Rebel Without A Cause. Haha. I know, several biopics have said that they were never an item. It's still fun though.

Have fun traipsing around the US, Sheng! XD Hehehe.

(Images searched using Google. Credit to the sites I borrowed 'em from. ^^ )

007 Big sister mode
Yesterday, I went to UP with my youngest sister to check the results for Fine Arts admission. (She went through the talent determination blah.)

Nina: (stepping out of Liteace) Ate Yas, ako lang titingin ha! Wag kang lalapit sa bulletin board!

Yas: (while walking) Eh kung gusto kong tignan yung results eh.

Nina: Basta! Ako ang titingin!

Yas: Bahala ka.

Nina: (after a while) Ate Yas ninenerbyos na ko.

Yas: Hay naku, okay lang yan.

Nina: Ayoko sa ****** eh...

Yas: Sus, okay lang talaga yan.

(three feet from the board where results were)

Nina: (grimacing) Ikaw na lang tumingin! (actually covers her eyes)

Yas: (rolls eyes, but looks anyway)

So she got into UP. Of course I'm proud of her; she's not supposed to know that, haha.

Any more bonding while she's enrolling, though, and I'm going to scream. =P

006 Quizzies
SENSITIVE SCRIPTER

Your handwriting reveals you as a thoughtful,

intellectual type who avoids fake people and places where there's lots

of noise and crowds. You're probably the one people go to when they're

feeling super sad and don't run off at the mouth unless someone hounds

you for your opinion.

Being creative is probably easy for you, but expressing it in front of

a large group is not. You might write in a blog or journal, enjoy

things that are old-fashioned or obscure and (maybe) don't get most pop

culture references (who cares about 'em anyway?).

Interesting quiz. =P

Audrey Hanson

Well, statistically speaking, law enforcement attracts a certain kind of male personality.

Congratulations, you're Audrey! You're a practical hard-worker with a sassy sense of humor. You have a good amount of vunerability behind your tough exterior, but you're still FBI material.

Your best quality: Attitude

Your worst quality: Attitude

Kyaaa. Wasn't really sure which result I'd get; I was certain I wouldn't get Peter Petrelli though. =P

005 blah
I sort of like people I know personally not knowing about this blog. (At least, I hope they don't. Or if they do and I didn't tell them I hope they don't tell me they know. Hehehe.) The veneer of anonymity is a welcome change.

The school year will officially be over for me Tuesday next week. Two papers to finish. I can do this.

And a random picture courtesy of dear Kat's Photobucket account...

I've half a mind to edit the picture (y'know, get rid of the speckle of dirt blocking the light a bit) to up the coolness factor. =P Hehehe. (The pic, which is over a year old, is of my friend's org mate as Uchiha Sasuke - one of the characters from the manga & anime Naruto.) But seriously, I really like this picture. Yeah, I'll prolly fix it a bit with Photoshop.

004 random project and Ethan Hawke

My EEE 10 Project

Hahaha. I'm not pretending to be an expert, so sue me. =P Given the limited time (I admit, I put it off until the last possible minute), it turned out okay, I think. Hehe.

Anyway, I'm seriously considering making this my primary blog. Not sure yet. I may cross-post here and at LJ. That'll probably happen.

Ethan Hawke *swoon* ^^

002 It's all in the name?
Supposedly, this is what my first name says about me (taken from AsiaFlash). Italics the blogger's own.

  • You possess a double personality and it's not always easy for you to assume this duality. You aspire to the joy of living, you only ask to share it with others; but you find that this task is not easy, so much so that at other moments you feel disappointed, being down in the dumps and even unable to joke. It's then the sign of a more or less profound depression. The truth is that you abhor boredom: as soon as something bores you, you try to shirk it.

  • Curiosity is the quality that seems most precious to you and you cultivate it assiduously. It's this curiosity that permits you to always keep your mind alert, to feel well at ease in all surroundings, and to adapt yourself to any environment.

  • You like to live in the present moment. You don't have a past and you refuse to project yourself into the future. The mere fact of only thinking of living the present minute spares you numerous more or less existential anguishes.

  • You're good at contacts, you also are gifted for complicity and communication. You understand everything very quickly.

  • As a rule, you tend to go too fast, to want to do too many things. But this continuous search for agitation is not what will help you preserve your physical and mental balance. It's not a bad thing that you cultivate a hobby which allows you to satisfy the part of yourself that your professional activities have not fulfilled. The satisfactions which you'll draw from it will help you fight the tendencies to depression that could appear. On the other hand, by trying to preserve an ever young and ever alert mind — a mind that's always fascinated by novelty — you'll remain the eternal adolescent who you intimately always want to be.

  • The most surprising side to your character is perhaps your great sentimentality. Despite your appearance as a conqueror, you always very deeply feel a pressing need of affection and friendship. But you often come up against a solid barrier, and your incessant efforts at winning the intimacy of others rarely bear the expected fruits. In other words, your personality is attractive but little engaging. If you can make good relations easily, on the contrary you feel it most difficult to make true friends.
  • It's funny how these things are always vague enough to keep you guessing yet specific enough to reel you in. So long as you're secure with yourself, I say it's fine.
